​Interim Director Daniel K. Phillips

​Daniel K. Phillips was appointed by Governor Wes Moore as the interim Director of the State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) in 2024 after recently completing his 35th year with the Department, where he has served in various capacities.

The goals of SDAT will be to ensure public trust, provide cooperative partnerships with local governments, provide first class services to the citizens and property owners, and to be a highly respected agency touted for its professionalism.

Interim Director Phillips has served since 2020 as the State Supervisor of SDAT's Real Property Division, previously serving as Senior Area Supervisor of Commercial and Industrial Assessments, Supervisor of Assessments for Wicomico County, and as a Commercial and Industrial Assessor in multiple counties. He is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser licensed in the State of Maryland.

Born and raised on the Eastern Shore, Interim Director Phillips graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in Business Administration. He is a current member of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and a member and Past President of the Maryland Association of Assessing Officers (MAAO).
